My Music

I'm in to a lot of different kinds of music and here's a list of some of the music that I'm proud to say that I love, as well as some that I'm not so proud to admit.  I used to be the biggest music snob, liking only Phish, Grateful Dead, Pink Floyd, and Dave Matthews before he got big, and then I hated him.  But now, I have no right to be a music snob consideiring some of the music that I listen to.

My favorite bands

  1. - they'll always be number 1 in my book.  There truly is no other band out there that compares to their live performances.  Whenever I think back to my "favorite concerts," I cluster them into two categories: Phish and non-Phish shows, because it would not be fare to compare any other band to Phish.  The band just had something special that many bands emulate.  They were all about the music, and when the music stopped progressing the way they wanted, they broke it off.  I respect them so much for making that decision.  But honestly, I really love Phish's earlier stuff, pre-1997 because it was goofier, more random, with a truly unique sound.  They never sold out to record companies and made their money by touring, which is how other bands should follow, instead of complaining about people downloading free music.  They never needed to advertise their shows because they would sell out in minutes.  Phish is one of the greatest bands in history and will always be remembered by their loyal following.
  2. Jamiroquai - this guy sounds like Stevie Wonder but knows how to funk and groove

  7. Robbie Williams
  8. Simon and Garfunkel
  9. The Beta Band
  10. Toad the Wet Sprocket

  12. The Tragically Hip - great Canadian band
  13. Bare Naked Ladies - another Canadian band, but more mainstream in the States, and not as good as they once were
  14. The Beatles - who doesn't like them?
  15. Queen
  16. Bela Fleck and the Flecktones
  17. Frank Zappa
  18. Led Zepplin
  19. Madonna
  20. U2

Now for the bands that I like, but I wouldn't think to call them my favorite band, or some even a band at all.  These are almost embarassing, but not really.  I would never deny loving them.
